What happened during your latest cold chain shipment?
For temperature-sensitive products, Envirotainer offers a service that records crucial shipment data and enables the shipper to improve the quality of the product cold chain: RAPID.
The RAPID service is available on the Envirotainer RKN e1 container - an active, self-regulating container with compressor cooling and electrical heating.

How does it work
The RAPID service is easy to access and activated only by the shipper. The system monitors ambient temperature as well as air temperature inside the container. Furthermore, the system logs battery level as well as opening and closing of the container doors.
Using customer specific codes, the shipper activates the system at origin and the consignee deactivates it at destination. Shipment data is logged during transportation
and, upon arrival, transferred via an easy-to-use hand-held IR reader to a user-friendly format onto a PC for further analysis.
For enhanced security, shipment settings cannot be changed during transport.

Downloaded shipment data is compatible with the most frequently used software from Elpro.

Data logging:
- Frequency every 10 minutes
- Maximum shipment duration 20 days
IR reader
The reader will store data for up to the equivalent of 15 typical 4-day shipments.
Data integrity
The system is designed to comply with highest security standards. Customer-specific codes and data encryption allows full confidentiality and integrity.
Shipment data cannot be manipulated and is deleted automatically from the IR reader after data has been saved onto the customer’s PC. All data is logged based on date/time as well as container ID to avoid misreadings.
Validation
The RAPID system, its process and all its elements are fully validated as is the associated Elpro software. The validation package includes:
- RAPID module for RKN e1 container (installation and operational qualification)
- IR reader (installation and operational qualification)
- RAPID procedure (performance qualification)
- Software (compliant with industry standards used by Elpro)
