The industry’s most ambitious Science-Based Targets
The industry’s most ambitious Science-Based Targets
Why our targets matter
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with climate science is good for businesses. Because sustainability in pharma logistics isn't just about the planet; it’s about resilience, compliance, and competitive advantage. Science-Based Targets (SBTs) are science-aligned emissions reduction goals to limit global warming, and they are important to us because they ensure our actions are credible, measurable, and validated by official standards, the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
As we take responsibility of our carbon footprint, we directly reduce the emissions in your supply chain. Working with us means securing a low-carbon logistics partner, ahead of the industry curve.
Ahead of 2030 climate target for our direct emissions
We don’t just set Science Based Targets (SBTs), we outpace them. By achieving a 77.2% reduction in our direct operational emissions (Scope 1 & 2), we have already surpassed our 2030 milestone.
Because our climate targets directly align with yours, partnering with us means we share the exact same vision for a sustainable future.
Navigating complexity of logistics value chain
The global logistics value chain, what we call our scope 3, is vast and complex, presenting challenges similar to those faced across the industry.
Following our recent company integration with va-Q-tec pharmaceutical organization, we updated our Scope 3 baseline, enabling precise tracking of every gram of CO₂ across our expanded global network. While Scope 3 emissions have improved, progress continues at a gradual pace due to the complexity of reducing emissions across such a large and interconnected ecosystem. Download our report to deep dive into our Scope 3 activities.
When you choose a partner who is ahead of their SBTs, you gain:
Lower Scope 3 reporting: Helping you to meet your own corporate ESG goals
Regulatory readiness: Staying ahead of global reporting mandates (like CSRD) by using a supplier with SBTs
Brand integrity: Ensure your life-saving medicines are delivered via a supply chain that prioritizes patients and the planet
Leading the way on climate as the only packaging solution provider with SBTi-approved long-term and net-zero targets
Scope 1 & 2
Near-term: Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2023 base year.
Long-term: Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 90% by 2050 from a 2023 base year
Scope 3
Near-term: Reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and upstream transportation and distribution 51.6% per thousand SEK value added by 2030 from a 2023 base year.
Long-term: Reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and upstream transportation and distribution 97% per thousand SEK value added by 2050 from a 2023 base year.
Re-engineering pharma logistics without compromising the integrity of the cold chain
Scope 1 & 2
Decarbonizing our infrastructure
We have taken full control of our physical footprint. These are direct emissions from our own operations, such as energy used & purchased for our production and own stations.
Scope 3
Optimizing the global value chain
Our most significant impact happens in transit. These are indirect emissions across the value chain, including logistics, supplier activities, and container movements.
Energy-efficient facilities: Optimize and reduce energy consumption across production and owned stations, such as energy retrofits, equipment upgrades, district heating etc.
109% increase in sea freight repo: Shift the weight of global transit to the most carbon-efficient modes available
100% renewable electricity: Transition to renewable electricity at our facilities to further minimize our environmental footprint
~70% trips start as new leases, instead of empty returns: Move directly from one active shipment to the next lease, bypassing the need to return empty units
Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) investment: Support the transition away from fossil-based jet fuels
“Growth sharpens our focus on where we can make the greatest difference. We continue to drive efficiency and maintain 100% renewable electricity in Scope 1 & 2. Our biggest focus lies in Scope 3, unlocking long-term CO₂ reductions through smarter logistics so we can fill every shipment and reduce empty returns.”
